Born into the plantation sector, Sathya began her career with aspirations of becoming Sri Lanka’s first female plantation manager, quickly transitioning into diverse managerial roles across education, social development, agriculture, and marketing.
With over 24 years of rich managerial experience, Sathya holds an MBA from Asian e University and a National Diploma in Plantation Management from the National Institute of Plantation Management and bachelor's degree in Management studies. Her proficiency in English, Sinhala, and Tamil has also seen her serve as a freelance translator on several governmental projects.
Sathya’s remarkable journey includes a significant tenure as the National Project Coordinator for the British Council Sri Lanka, where she successfully led large-scale projects, working harmoniously with expatriates, government officials, and local communities. Her profound understanding of Sri Lanka’s cultural, social, and geographical nuances has greatly enhanced her leadership and problem-solving capabilities, traits that she aimed to bring to her role as the community leader.
In 2007, driven by a deep-seated desire to elevate the educational standards of the hill country’s youth, Sathya established Winrose International Campus. This institution was the first stand-alone vocational training center in the Hill Country, inspired by the lifelong social work of her parents, Godwin R. Samuel and Adeline Rose Jothy Malar, both stalwarts in social change and education. Sathya, along with her siblings, continues to carry forward the family’s legacy of social work, making significant impacts in the lives of over 1,400 students. Many of these students have transcended their initial circumstances to pursue higher education and professional careers.
Passionate about nurturing potential and fostering personal growth, Sathya excels in empowering young individuals through vocational training, English education, personality development, and career guidance. Her innate ability to motivate and inspire, combined with her adaptability and resilience, ensures that every student at Winrose International Campus not only achieves their educational goals but also develops the skills and confidence to thrive in various environments.

Message from the Founder
Dear Friends, Students, Alumni, Supporters, and the Global Community,
As I reflect on the journey that led to the founding of Winrose International Campus, I am filled with both pride and a profound sense of responsibility. Growing up in the tea plantations of Sri Lanka, I was a firsthand witness to the stark realities that shaped the lives of our community. More than 95% of our youth were ensnared in a relentless cycle of poverty, pressured into early marriages, menial jobs, or worse, succumbing to the dangers of substance abuse. Their dreams were vast, but their options were tragically few.
Inspired by their resilience and fueled by a vision of a brighter future, I founded Winrose International Campus with a simple yet profound mission: to teach English to these young people. I believed fervently that language was a key that could unlock doors previously closed to them. And indeed, it did. Learning English infused our youth with newfound confidence and dignity—qualities that a dismissive society had often denied them.
However, as Winrose evolved, it became clear that our mission could not stop at language proficiency. Our students needed—and deserved—much more. They needed a comprehensive education and vocational training that would empower them to transform their lives completely. Thus, our mission expanded, and our campus became a beacon of holistic development, offering programs in hospitality, information technology, and beyond.
To our current students, you are the heart of Winrose. Every lesson you learn, every skill you acquire, builds upon the legacy of those who came before you. To our alumni, your successes in the wider world fill me with immense pride and joy. You are the living testament to the power of education to change lives.
To our supporters and donors, your generosity fuels our mission. It allows us to reach more students, to break the chains of poverty, and to offer pathways to success that were once unimaginable. Thank you for believing in our vision and for investing in the potential of our youth.
And to potential collaborators across the globe, join us. In our students, you will find determination, resilience, and a hunger to succeed that is unmatched. Together, we can expand the horizons of what is possible, not just for the youth of the tea plantations, but for underprivileged communities everywhere.
As we look to the future, Winrose is committed to growing and adapting to meet the needs of our students and our community. We are dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders, innovators, and trailblazers who will leave a positive mark on the world.
Together, we are changing a generation through education. Together, we are building a world where every young person has the opportunity to rise, to succeed, and to thrive.
With deepest gratitude and warmest regards,
Miss Sathya Reka Godwin
